Hi Parents and Students!
Just a few updates as to what is going on in our room right now... Science: Ask about our worms! We are currently growing superworms in our animal life cycles unit. Our students are really excited about them! Social: We recently traveled to India and are looking at cooking some food in the near future. If you have any dietary concerns with Indian Cuisine, please let me know ASAP. Math: We have started XtraMath in Math class, as well as working on multiplication. Please see our Games and Activities page as well as our Math page for extra math homework. Language Arts: Fairy Tales are the key focus for the next few weeks. I would suggest trying to find some fairy tales to read at home and ask your student "what makes this a fairy tale as opposed to a regular story?" They should have some quality answers. Gym: We are about to pick up Floor Hockey. Looking forward to it! In other news... -New language arts programming coming up in the near future. Keep an eye on our website! -It's quite chilly these days! Please dress appropriately for the weather! Hi Parents,
This is a quick update to our final weeks of school before Christmas break. -Christmas Concert: If you need extra tickets, PLEASE see the staff in the office. I am unable to provide extra tickets, and I have had to turn multiple students away the last few days. If you have extra tickets, please have your student return them to me. These extra tickets become the "extras" in the office. -Entering and Dismissing from the Christmas Concert: Students will arrive in the foyer of the church. From here, they will be ushered to their proper classroom to await the concert. Once your student is swept off, you may take your seat. At the end of our concert, the Grade 3's will meet in the foyer. I will gather our class in one area so that it will be easy to spot us. I will also bring a small flag to hold up, making it even easier to find your child at the end of a hectic night. -Homework for the last two weeks: We have a spelling test on Friday December 11. This will include our week 3-4 words. Study up! There will be very little to no homework besides spelling for the last two weeks. Most of our activities are being wrapped up in class. -Field Trips: On December 16th we are away to the Galt Museum in the afternoon. A form came home. If you are able to help, please return the bottom part of that form. If your child did not bring it home, it is available on our "Documents" page. -We are also going skating on December 17th. Please return the bottom part of that form REGARDLESS if parents are coming or not. I need to know how many students we will have on the ice, and if they have equipment. If you did not receive this form, it is on the "Documents" page. Book Orders: The book order was placed on December 4. If it does NOT arrive prior to Christmas break, I will distribute the items when we return in January. I believe they will make it in time for the break. As usual, if you have any questions or concerns...Please e-mail me or stop into the classroom during lunch times or after school. It is more ideal for me to meet with you if you pop in when we are not in the middle of class. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! ~Mr. Jesse
Hello Parents, Staff and Students! Welcome to our week 3 update. I am sadly very close to losing my voice (darn gym classes) so there will be no video today. Here is what would have been in the video! This week: -The documents page is up and running finally. Did your kid forget a letter at school? Did a backpack/black hole suck it up? They are now available online! Check it out! -Games & Activities page, sadly I have not had a chance to play games and figure out which ones are good and which are useless yet...I'm hoping to play some games this weekend and post which ones are awesome online then. If you have suggestions, feel free to tweet/e-mail me! -TWITTER! We're using it more often! @BretJesse87! Follow our class! :) -Toonies for Terry: This will run until the end of next week. Bring in a toonie or two to support the Terry Fox Foundation. Next week...(dun dun duuun) -SLA's (Student learning assessments) begin. If you have questions, https://education.alberta.ca/department/ipr/slas/ this is a great resource. You can also come see me after school for more information. -Tuesday is picture day! Show up ready! -Friday we are off to the Terry Fox Walk, if you want more information please see me after schools or e-mail me. I really do wish I could have made this a video. To make up for it, here is a group of fantastic musicians...with some help... See you next week!
